About Malvern, Pennsylvania
Malvern, Pennsylvania, is a picturesque borough located just 25 miles west of Philadelphia, making the area a peaceful yet accessible retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. Malvern, Pennsylvania History
The history of Malvern, Pennsylvania, dates back to the 17th century, with the area initially being settled by Welsh immigrants who purchased land from William Penn. This early settlement laid the foundation for what would become a region with significant historical and agricultural importance within Chester County. Malvern was officially incorporated on August 13, 1889, after separating from the northern portion of Willistown Township, marking its transition from a rural community to an official borough within Pennsylvania.
During the Revolutionary War, the Battle of Paoli, also known as the Paoli Massacre, occurred on the night of September 20, 1777. British General Charles Grey led an attack against American forces commanded by General Anthony Wayne. The British removed the flints from their muskets to ensure a surprise bayonet attack and inflicted significant casualties on the American troops. The battle resulted in the deaths or injuries of 201 American soldiers, with an additional 71 captured, while British losses were minimal. This event tarnished Wayne’s reputation and led him to demand a court-martial to clear his name, which ultimately declared that he had acted with honor. The site of the Battle of Paoli is part of the borough and has a monument and preserved battlefield to commemorate this event.
Malvern evolved from its early years into a thriving borough, retaining its historical charm and significance with landmarks and sites of interest that reflect its rich heritage, including those related to the Battle of Paoli.
The borough of Malvern is home to several notable landmarks that capture its rich heritage and community spirit. The Paoli Battlefield, one of the nation’s most historic Revolutionary War sites, and the Wharton Esherick Museum, dedicated to the American artist and craftsman, are testaments to Malvern’s cultural and historical depth

How Can You Tell If Your Plants Have Problems?
Your observations are vital to keeping your landscape plants in good health. Most of the plants we work with are relatively long-lived, and each growing season should be a predictable process of dormancy through full vigor to senescence. Some of the most common symptoms in landscape plants include yellowing or browning of leaves, wilting, or leaf drop.
